A company can outperform rivals only if it can establish a difference that it can preserve. Strategic positioning means performing different activities from rivals’ or performing similar activities in different ways. (Porter, 1996). While relying on people, making goals personal, and measuring and recognizing progress are crucial to success, I should first be bold. Jumpstarting a sustainability journey with a series of aggressive targets will give employees a point of pride to rally behind (Lamach, 2017).
So, a sociotechnical leader’s strategy is about making a difference or things in a different way.
